Abstract

The rapid adoption of cloud computing, application programming interfaces (APIs), microservices, and digital platforms has transformed enterprise information systems into highly interconnected and distributed environments. However, the growing number and complexity of APIs have introduced significant challenges involving API discovery, integration, security, governance, monitoring, and operational automation. This study proposes a Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI)-driven intelligent API intelligence framework for secure enterprise cloud integration and automated digital operations. The proposed approach combines large language models, retrieval-augmented generation, API metadata analysis, semantic understanding, anomaly detection, policy reasoning, and intelligent workflow automation to improve the management of enterprise APIs throughout their lifecycle. The framework is designed to understand API specifications, identify appropriate services, generate integration logic, detect security and compliance risks, recommend remediation actions, and automate selected operational processes while maintaining human oversight. A research methodology based on design science and mixed-method evaluation is proposed to assess the framework using functional, security, integration, performance, and operational metrics. The research considers challenges such as hallucination, unauthorized actions, sensitive-data exposure, model reliability, explainability, and governance. The expected contribution is an intelligent API management model capable of reducing integration effort, improving security visibility, accelerating cloud operations, and supporting scalable digital transformation. The study further establishes evaluation criteria for determining whether GenAI can safely augment enterprise API management without compromising organizational security, governance, reliability, and regulatory requirements
